Own Your Life – Start a Home Based Business

Own Your Life!

When I first heard the phrase “Own Your Life”, I wasn’t quite sure what it meant. I felt I did own it (after all it is my life). I was in a comfortable place with a good job and things felt on track. That all changed when I heard the question – Would you like to have better health with more time and money to do the things you would like to do? That question hit home because it spoke to having the time to do the things you enjoy in life with money not being the main concern. It also speaks to being at a point in life that you are healthy enough to enjoy that time.

A lot of us were taught to get good grades in school. Our parents told us “if you work hard and get good grades, you will be accepted into a good college”. Then you hopefully land a nice job with a company that you can grow with and move up the corporate ladder. That job will provide you steady income and security through your working years. After 40+ years, you comfortably retire and start living life.

This plan was OK in the age of the big companies that offered stability. Now we are in a technology age where information moves faster, jobs are automated or outsourced and companies are downsizing for efficiency. Stability is questionable and this plan is shaky. You don’t Own Your Life!

If you follow the plan above, you might land a job where you work 40-60 hours a week for someone else. Granted you get compensated for that time, but the company reaps the rewards of your efforts. You spend a lot of time at your job, working, commuting and missing out on all the joy around you. Once you finally hit retirement, you might have social security, a pension and 401K to live off of, but at 62 – 65 years old, are you in the best health and shape to finally enjoy all of the things you have missed for the past 40 years? Did you Own Your Life?

I may have just painted a bleak picture of what the majority of people do on a daily basis. I’m not trying to insult how anyone makes a living and I actually believe the majority of people are fine following the path above. There are also those that recognize the path and would like to get off, but they are not willing to jump outside of their comfort zone. This article is for those that are ready to make a change, willing to explore an alternate route and Own Your Life!

Beachbody Coaching Opportunity – A Path To Your Goals!

As I’ve developed a Beachbody coaching business, there have been a lot of interesting questions and experiences along the way. I went into the coaching process with eyes wide open. I was already a fan of every Beachbody products I had used including – Tony Horton’s P90X, Shaun T’s Insanity, Shakeology and a few other programs. I was also a pretty active user of Team Beachbody’s Supergym and message boards.

All of my personal experiences with Beachbody were very positive so becoming a coach had more to do with exploring the opportunity and finding the right sponsor to work with. I took an approach of researching the coaching concept on-line and interviewed a few coaches. My conversations were geared towards understanding how each coach could help me grow a business and judging if we would be compatible personality wise.  Once I found a coach that resonated with me, I got my start.

Here are some of my learning’s as I’ve built my Beachbody business –

Network Marketing Business Model - When I joined I was excited about Beachbody the company and their products. I wasn’t very familiar with network marketing or how that method of distribution differed from other models. My coach recommended a couple of books to help me understand the model. Once you understand it, the opportunity to make money in network marketing is huge. The key to network marketing is expanding your team. That team is your business asset and over time generates residual income for you. Your goal is to build your network and help your team members grow successful businesses of their own. Everyone is in this together.

Money – This is why you’re reading this right? Unless you are looking to do this work for charity, there has to be money in this. I can tell you there is money to be made in this business. This will sound like a cliché, but it all depends on you. How much effort you put into this business will dictate how successful you will be. You have the opportunity to make secondary income or become financially independent through Beachbody.

Personal Development – For you to succeed in this business, you have to constantly be growing as an individual. Personal development areas could be – talking to people, managing your own business, goal setting and completion, time management etc… No matter where you need help, there are resources within Beachbody and your own coach’s network that can help you. This will probably push you out of your comfort zone, but that is where the personal growth happens. Think of it as working out. When you start a program your muscles are sore because of the new exercises. That soreness is where the growth comes from.

Making Friends and Helping People - This is a social job. It is all about talking to people and sharing your positive experiences with the product and company. Or you are talking to people about the business model and how it can be an opportunity for them. In the end it is talking to people and helping them either financially or physically reach their goals.

Low Cost of Entry - On average to get started, your first month will be around $115 – $145 and every month after that would be $65 – $100. Those costs vary depending on how you approach your business. Some of those costs might not even be incremental to your current monthly expenses but could easily take the place of other purchases. I can’t think of a more cost effective way to start your own business with the opportunity to become financially independent.

Hopefully this sheds some light into being a Beachbody coach. I have found it to be a great experience and I work with a team that is truly dedicated to helping my business grow.

Beachbody is a great company that has a model that rewards you for discussing your positive experiences regarding their products or business model. They provide the product marketing through their infomercials and have fantastic products that work.
